father-son cycle

          I hear that there is a father-son cycle. One generation says, “Dad went through hell; all I want is peace”. The next generation says, “Dad was a slave; I want freedom”. The Boomer generation was of the I-want-freedom phase; the Millennials are of the I-want-peace phase.

          As a Boomer myself, I am deeply grateful to see how smart, hard-working and well-behaved young people are nowadays; much more than my own generation. I am also infuriated to see them so exploited for their civic virtues.

          May they raise hell-raisers!
