Alchemic Power of Thor, an Underfable

Alchemic Power of Thor

Once upon a time, Thor and Loki descended into the Underworld, to visit the Five-Sided Temple. There they met with death-god Pluto and with Ares, the Lord of War. On the agenda; which type of alchemic reactor for Ares? Thor’s liquid-fluoride-thorium reactor, or Pluto’s light-water-plutonium reactor?
Thor and Pluto pitched their respective reactors. Ares was only mildly interested in the greater efficiency of Thor’s reactor, and the greater abundance of thorium over uranium; he was interested in extracting precious rhodium from Thor’s reactor waste; and he was very interested in extracting bomb-grade plutonium from Pluto’s reactor waste. Naïve Thor gaffed badly by bragging that his reactor is useless for making alchemic weapons.
Thor pled that Pluto’s alchemic waste is deadly for a thousand centuries, but Thor’s for only three, and Thor’s reactor can burn Pluto’s alchemic waste. But Ares cared not at all for future generations; so he chose Pluto’s reactor. Defeated, Thor and Loki left the Underworld.
Clever Loki told downcast Thor to cheer up. Then Loki gave the news to the people of Midgard, and they praised Thor. The Midgardians said that the War-Lord’s rejection of Thor’s reactor is for them an endorsement! They cheered, “All hail mighty Thor!”

Moral: A scoundrel’s curse is a blessing.
