Faith Meets Doubt

Faith Meets Doubt

Once, after teaching an Algebra class, I chatted in the hallway with a friend of mine, a philosophy professor.
“Two plus two is four,” I preached. “Not five, not even if you bribe me. Nor three, not even if you threaten me. Two plus two is four, neither more nor less, anywhere, everywhere, forever and ever, amen.”
“Very good!” he said. “But does the number four exist?”
Faith, meet doubt! Yin and yang!
